Even More Banned Books in the News…
O.K., now it is John Green who is facing a challenge in his home region. Two parents have asked that the local public library review and remove ‘vulgar’ books (to learn more about this, click here). These parents began to challenge young adult books at the public library back in April, and their growing list even includes Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns and Let it Snow by John Green.
During a meeting on September 28th, the city commission decided that it would be best to create two separate areas – one for young adult books and the other for high school students. Additionally, as this article discusses, each book for those in high school will receive a “HS” sticker regardless of its content.

Take the chance to stop and think about how books have changed your life. Also, make sure to let authors know that their books have had an impact on you. It is only because of you, the reader, that anything gets written at all.
