Archive for July, 2008
These are just a few of our new graphic novels and manga. Also of note: brand new copies of Jeff Smith’s “Bone” series.
I was watching the CBS Early Show this morning and saw that Princeton Review has published its new list, “The Best 368 Colleges — 2008 Edition.” They rank lots of colleges in lots of different categories, including “Best Classroom Experience,” “Happiest Students,” and — new this year — “Green Honor Roll.”
Indiana’s men-only school Wabash College represented the Hoosier State well, earning honors for “Best Classroom Experience” and “Best Career/Job Placement Opportunities.”

Lots of big winners for TSRE ’08 prizes. Congratulations to:
Katie, Zach, Julianna, Crystal, Paige, Megan, Eric, Abby, Courtney, Felicia, Lydia, Natalie, Anastasia, Alex, Kristin, Cody, Alexa, Rosalyn, Amanda, and, Melchizedek!
Oh and extra big congrats to Preston, who won the grand prize — four tickets to the Art Institute of Chicago, along with transportation on the South Shore!
Well, nobody’s gotten the Trivia Tuesday #1 answer yet, so tell ya what: we’re gonna extend the deadline to August 26, so you have a whole month to come up with the answer!
And remember, there is a prize for the winner. Think t-shirts, books, gift cards, etc.
Ok, for the first Trivia Tuesday we’re gonna throw you a softball. So here it is:
What was the theme for TSRE 2008?
You have until midnight (an ultimatum makes it sound cooler).
Another Teen Summer Reading Experience has come and gone — with record-breaking numbers! 263 teens signed up for TSRE 2008, up 67% from last year’s total, the previous record. A huge “thanks!” to all the teens who signed up, got excited about reading, and came to TSRE events. We couldn’t make the TSRE a success without you!
In other news, Trivia Tuesdays launches tomorrow with our first question! We should have it up by the time GPL opens, around 9:30 tomorrow morning. Answer early to win! And of course, look out for our next Trivia Tuesday, August 28.
As always, GPL staff will be at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair to help represent Elkhart County’s public libraries. We’ll be in Commercial Building E — stop in and say hi!
